Instructors: Bob Berta and Angelo DiDonato

Fresh from in-person viewing of the solar eclipse of April 8, 2024, Angelo and Bob will conduct this portion of the course covering the science behind eclipsing orbiting bodies in space. Included will be the orbital dynamics behind eclipses, different types of eclipses, and the scientific knowledge gained from eclipsing exoplanets around other stars. The lecture will conclude with a virtual tour of our nighttime spring skies.

About the Presenters: Angelo has been a lifelong amateur astronomer with a particular interest in the nature of our universe, its origin and evolution. His current focus is on deep-space objects beyond our Milky Way galaxy. He is currently retired as a test and development engineer in the defense and automotive industries and enjoys sharing his knowledge of astronomy with class members enrolled in the Macomb College MORE program.

Bob Berta is a retired electrical engineer and safety engineering director in the California electrical power industry. Bob also owned a photography studio and is currently a solar system ambassador for NASA/JPL. His astral photography is stunning and not to be missed.
